Currently, Microsoft Office updates are released on a weekly basis, the specific day for which is picked at random.
Microsoft has decided to change this update model to a more scheduled and structured one.
Criteria for hotfixes (including workaround availability, customer impact, reproducibility, and the complexity of the code that must be changed) have not changed, but there will now be two types of hotfixes: Cumulative Updates (CUs) released every two months and Critical On-demand (COD) hotfixes released asap in emergency situations.
